Ruben Torres first contacted the SBDC in September 2018 to expand his automotive repair business in Midland. He was turning away new customers and wanted to expand. He received help writing a business plan, financial projections, and growth strategy planning. In September 2018, he was awarded a $75,000 grant, obtained a $200,000 commercial loan, and invested $50,000. As of 2020, Texland Collision now has 23 full-time employees. In September 2020, the owner applied for the PPP and EIDL to survive the pandemic. He obtained $150,000 from each program to help maintain his payroll and other critical operating expenses.
