The owners of LeatherHead Fire Company, Austin Shaffer and Austin Satterfield, came to the UTPB-Small Business Development Center in September 2020. They are both experienced firefighters and have experience in the Fire Extinguisher sales and service industry. They wanted to start their own company based in Andrews, Texas. They received industry research information from an SBDC consultant and went to work on their business plan. The consultant worked with the owners to complete the business plan, including financial projections. The client filed for their LLC on Oct 16, 2020, and started their business. The owners decided to start the company with their resources. While they were not eligible for PPP or EIDL, they received disaster assistance consulting, and their business survived the pandemic and has grown from five employees to Nine in the last year.
