Natalie Roach and her father came to the SBDC in the Fall of 2019 at the suggestion of her banker, after she and her father discussed her plan with him. Natalie’s big yellow ice cream truck became a dream of hers after she decided to walk away from a 15-year teaching career. She knew it was time for a change and D’Lites kept popping up in her head; she loved getting D’Lites ice cream when she went to Austin with her dad. After her initial meeting with her SBDC consultant, she delayed her project for a few months when Covid hit but came back in May 2020 and they started working on a full business plan with financial projections. A few months later and after a couple of revisions to the business plan, the business was funded and D’Lites Lubbock was born, serving “no guilt” ice cream on the go, one sweet tooth at a time.
