In October 2019, Deidra came to the SBDC wanting to put her prior experience as the WFISD Culinary Director to use by starting a food truck specializing in coffee and breakfast foods. She was very prepared but needed assistance with the business side. WE discussed business planning, legal structure, and cash flow management with her. In February 2020, Deidra opened Chicka D’s Coffee. Her dad, son and daughter helped her out; however, she quickly fired her daughter! Her son still works for her and wants to have a truck to take to college with him. Chicka D’s saw a huge boom in business during the COVID-19 shutdown. She would set up in a furniture store parking lot and the line of cars would be endless. By June 2021, Chicka D’s had a second truck that rotates between the communities of Iowa Park, Burkburnett, Henrietta, and other surrounding communities.
