Bogie’s Specialty Deli, owned by former coach and principal Phillip Ratliff and his wife, CPA Heather Ratliff Bogies is a 50/50% male & female owned business. They began working with the Abilene SBDC in 2010 to complete their business plan and financials for purchase of an existing business. The Ratliff’s purchased the business from former owner Sheldon Greene in August 2010. Bogies has been in business for over 30 years, keeping most of the original menu and continuously growing their customer base in downtown Abilene. Phillip and Heather Ratliff were awarded the Small Business of the Year award in 2017. The restaurant faced many challenges during the pandemic but remained open and functioning. They worked with the Abilene SBDC again in applying for disaster relief funds, in which they were granted $6,000 of EIDL, used for working capital.
