If you ask around Wichita Falls for a caterer with great tasting food, you will be referred to Bistro Express. Josh White and John Humphries have taken a home-based business and turned it into one of the most requested in town. Josh White came to the SBDC to get assistance with purchasing the business and transferring ownership. The SBDC also familiarized with basic business processes and procedures including choosing a business structure, taxes, and food industry specifics. The previous owner was also an SBDC client. To date, they have catered for hundreds of weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries for individuals, plus providing lunch for civic groups, like Rotary and The Lion’s Club. The local hospital is a regular on their schedule for departmental lunches. Clients can have a simple buffet meal or a classic British tea. Chef John will even prepare family recipes! Prior to the pandemic, Bistro Express would post their weekly meal menu on social media and take orders via Facebook. On Thursdays during a specified time after work, they provided a drive-through pick-up service. During the Pandemic, they continued curbside pickup and felt it was a big success and kept their assistants employed. They have streamlined their ordering system to text, which makes it easier for them to fill. Other successes they are proud of include their support of local nonprofits and preparing and delivering Meals on Wheels on Christmas Day 2020. As their business expands, they would love to get a larger space and possibly hire a second chef. They have also talked about offering cooking classes, as well. One thing is for sure, the Bistro Express calendar is not empty. Josh and John always go above and beyond to make every event special.
